The Cup of God

Underlying all the thousands of churches across the earth is the single reality of just one message -- Jesus preached. That is God's secret intention. (Rv.10:7).

Although He has used many vessels to carry it, scripture shows that God has sent a single cup of wine (the Gospel) and made all the nations drink it to the dregs. "Take this cup of wine from my hand and make all the nations to whom I send you drink it, let them drink and reel and lose their wits at the sword I am sending among them." (Jer.25:15-16).

Here, Jeremiah shows that the cup of God is actually a sword. Jesus informed us that he, himself, was this sword: "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth: it is not peace I have come to bring, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother...a man's enemies will be those of his own household." (Mt.10:34-36).

Such animosity is the 'loss of wits' that the Gopel has produced on earth.

Seeing many different cups and thinking many different wines, the nations and their people have all been fooled. "God roars from on high...the sound reaches all the inhabitants of the earth...for God is indicting the nations, arraigning all flesh for judgement; the wicked he abandons to the sword. See! The disaster spreads from nation to nation." (Jer.25:30-32).

Jeremiah's discourse shows this cup, offered first to the towns of Israel, then sent across the world, even to the islands of the sea and finally to the kings of the east -- "and all the kingdoms that are on the face of the earth" (Jer.25:26).

His reference that "the country of Sheshak shall drink last of all" (Jer.25:26) seems a vieled implication that the land around the Euphrates will be the cup's final destination. If so, this seems to support other prophecies which show the western world taking control of this area (especially Iraq), perhaps, just after the conclusion of the second 'Gulf War'.

The words of Jeremiah show that God's cup is filled to overflowing with the brew of the grapes of wrath: 'You are to say to them, the Lord God Almighty, the God of Israel, says this: Drink! Get drunk! Vomit! Fall, never to rise, at the sword that I am sending among you!'

'If they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink, you are to say to them, "The Lord God Almighty says this: You must drink! since I am now making a beginning of disaster with the city that bears my name, do you think yu are likely to go unpusished? You certainly shall not, for I will next summon a sword against all the inhabitants of the earth"...

For God is indicting the nations, arraigning all flesh for judgment; the wicked he abandons to the sword. See! The disaster spreads from nation to nation, a mighty tempest rises from the far ends of the world."
