The Sea Will Vanish

The Bible has revealed to us that Satan, as a part of his rebellion, corrupted the creation God made in the lower waters and took prisoner all the souls within it that God had made for Himself.

Jesus called Satan 'the prince of this world' and it is obvious from other biblical references that he is considered the 'ruler' of the lower sea. Jesus said that God threw him out of heaven and cast him down upon the earth. The limits of his kingdom, then, the limits of the area he contaminated are the boundaries of the lower waters.

He has not corrupted heaven or the waters that lie above it (Genesis 1:1-10).

But we can see his work all the way to the limits of our vision in the skies. The farthest stars and galaxies all die. Death was not God's doing. To Him all things are meant to live. But everything that Satan contaminated must be destroyed (with the exception of the people God is rescuing through Jesus Christ), and that is why, on earth, we see death all around us.

The sea itself is going to die. When Satan and all who followed him are cast into the eternal burning lake, the sea will disappear, never to appear again:

"Then I saw a great white throne and the One who was sitting on it. In his presence, the earth and sky vanished, leaving no trace." (Rv.20:11).

"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; the first heaven and the first, earth had disappeared now, and there was no longer any sea." (Rv.21:1-2).

"The sea gave up all the dead who were in it; Death and Hades were emptied of the dead that were in them; and every one was judged according to the way in which he had lived. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the burning lake. This burning lake is the second death; and anybody whose name could not be found written in the book of life was thrown into the burning lake." (Rv.20:13-15).

The Sea Will Roar on the Side of God

Before it disappears, the sea will put itself at God's service by actively participating in the discipline of His enemies:

"...he will arm creation to punish his enemies; he will put on justice as a breastplate...he will forge a biting sword of his stern wrath, and the universe will march with him to fight the reckless. Bolts truly aimed, the shafts of lightning will leap, and from the clouds, as from a full-drawn bow, fly to their mark; and the catapult will hurl hailstones charged with fury. The waters of the sea will rage against them, the rivers engulf them without pity. The breath of God will blow against them and winnow them like a hurricane. So lawlessness will bring the whole earth to ruin and evil-doing bring the thrones of the mighty down." (Wis.5:17-24).

"There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by the clamour of the ocean and its waves; men dying of fear as they await what menaces the world, for the powers of heaven will be shaken." (Lk.21:25-26).

In the catastrophe's of the End, both the waters of the earth and the waters of the universe will become chaotic. The heavens, it says in the Psalms, will be rolled up like a scroll.

And on earth, devastating tidal waves will roll across Babylon during these times. Scripture is clear that God intends to destory the earth by fire, not water (as He did during the days of Noah). But immense water damage will accompany the fire, nonetheless.

"The sea will rise over Babylon, she will sink under its roaring waves." (Jer.51:42).

"...when I bring up the deep against you and the ocean covers you, I will cast you down with those who go down to the pit. I will make you an object of terror. You will not exist." Ez.26:19-21.

"God is our shelter, our we shall not be afraid when the earth gives way, when mountains tumble into the depths of the sea, and its waters roar and seethe, the mountains tottering as it heaves." (Ps.46:1-3).

"They are choosing to forget that there were heavens at the beginning and that the earth was formed by the word of God out of water and between the waters, so the world of that time was destroyed by being flooded with water ...but by the same word, the present sky and earth are destined for fire, and are only being reserved until judgment day so that all sinners may be destroyed." (2 Peter 3:5-7).

"With his power he calmed the Sea,
with his wisdom struck Rahab down,
His breath made the heavens luminous,
his hand transfixed the Fleeing Serpent.
All this but skirts the ways he treads,
a whispered echo is all that we hear of him.
But who could comprehend the thunder of his power?" (Job 26:12-14)

We live today in time of mercy. Jesus has brought from God an offer of reconciliation to the world. That offer has been broadcast across the earth, to every person God has decreed should hear it.

Those who are baptised in His faith will escape the disaster that is coming and be saved. They will be transported to a place of safety. Those who reject God's offer will be left behind to face the catastrophe that is coming. At the End, the people of the world revolt against God's offer, and then the end will come.
