The Messianic Prophecies

A Compilation of Bible Prophecies Predicting The Christ

"You foolish men! So slow to believe the full message of the prophets!
Was it not ordained that the Christ should suffer and so enter into his glory?'
then, starting with Moses and going through all the prophets,
he explained to them the passages throughout the scriptures that were about himself."
(Luke 24:25-27)

_____________

The Israelites knew that the Old Testament testified to God. But when all the words in it were fulfilled by Jesus Christ the House of Israel learned that Jesus was the God, Jesus was the Lord, Jesus was the Yahweh, Jesus was the Messiah, Jesus was the Intercessor, Jesus was the King that all this scripture talked to us about. The Father had placed the entire world and all its people into the hands of the Son. The King had created for us a new King. The prophecies have taught us that Jesus and God are identical and that the entire Old Testament was talking to us about the coming of Jesus and His kingdom. Jesus was the word made flesh that brought salvation to the world. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are One.

The following are only a sampling of quotations in the scriptures heralding the Christ. There are hundreds more; thousands in fact. The Bible is a continuous prophecy of Jesus and of the salvation He has brought down to us from heaven.

THE PROMISED MESSIAH:

"I roused him from the north to come; from the rising sun I summoned him by name. He has trampled the rulers like mortar, like a potter treading clay. Who predicted this from the beginning so we might know it, who foretold it long ago so we might say, 'It is right'? No one predicted it, no, no one proclaimed it, no, no one heard you speak. I had said in Zion beforehand, 'Here they come!' I had sent a bearer of good news to Jerusalem. I looked, but there was no one, there was not a single counsellor among them who, if I asked, could give an answer. Taken altogether they are nothing; their works are nothingness, their images just wind and emptiness. (Is.41:25-29).

"Here is my servant whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom my soul delights. I have endowed him with my spirit that he may bring true justice to the nations." (Is.42:1).

"Faithfully he brings true justice; he will neither waver, nor be crushed until true justice is established on earth, for the islands are awaiting his law." (Is.42:4).

"He gives an order; his word flashes to earth...He reveals his word to Jacob, his statutes to Israel..." (Ps.147:15&19).

"May your hand protect the man at your right, the son of man who has been authorized by you. We shall never turn from you again; our life renewed, we shall invoke your name." (Ps.80:17-18).

"Hope of Israel, the Lord! All who abandon you will be put to shame; those who turn from you will be uprooted from the land, since they have abandoned the fountain of living water." (Jer.17:13).

"I, God, have called you to serve the cause of right; I have taken you by the hand and formed you; I have appointed you as covenant of the people and light of the nations, to open the eyes of the blind, to free captives from prison, and those who live in darkness from the dungeon." (Is.42:6-7).

"Listen to this Law, my people, pay attention to what I say; I am going to speak to you in parable and expound the mysteries of our past. What we have heard and known for ourselves, and what our ancestors have told us, must not be withheld from their descendants, but be handed on by us to the next generation; that is: the titles of the Lord, his power and the miracles he has done. When he issued the decrees for Jacob and instituted a Law in Israel..." (Ps.78:1-5).

"But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, Jacob; who formed you, Israel: Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name, you are mine. Should you pass through the sea, I will be with you; or through rivers, they will not swallow you up. should you walk through fire, you will not be scorched and the flames will not burn you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your saviour."

"I give Egypt for your ransom, and exchange Cush and Seba for you. Because you are precious in my eyes, because you are honored and I love you, I give men in exchange for you, peoples in return for your life. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will bring your offfspring from the east, and gather you from the west. To the north I will say, 'Give them up' and to the south, 'Do not hold them'. Bring back my sons from far away, my daughters from the end of the earth, all those who bear my name, whom I have created for my glory, whom I have formed, whom I have made." (Is.43:1-7).

"Bring forward the people that is blind, yet has eyes; that is deaf and yet has ears. Let all the nations muster and assemble with every race. Which of them ever declared this or foretold this in the past? You yourselves are my witnesses p; it is the Lord who speaks p; my servants whom I have chosen, that men may know and believe me and understand that it is I. No god was formed before me, nor will be after me. I, I am the Lord, there is no other saviour but me. It is I who have spoken, have saved, have made the proclamation, not any strangers among you. You are my witnesses p; it is the Lord who speaks p; and I, I am your God, I am he from eternity. No one can deliver from my hand, I act and no one can reverse it." (Is.43:8-13).

"How beautiful on the mountains, are the feet of one who brings good news, who heralds peace, brings happiness, proclaims salvation, and tells Zion, 'Your God is king! Listen! Your watchmen raise their voices, they shout for joy together, for they see the Lord face to face, as he returns to Zion. Break into shouts of joy together, you ruins of Jerusalem; for the Lord is consoling his people, redeeming Jerusalem. The Lord bares his holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God." (Is.52:7-10).

"Rejoice heart and soul, daughter of Zion! Shout with gladness, daughter of Jerusalem! See now, your king comes to you; he is victorious, he is triumphant, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. He will banish chariots from Ephraim and horses from Jerusalem; the bow of war will be banished. He will proclaim peace for the nations. His empire shall stretch from sea to sea, from the River to the ends of the earth." (Zech.9:9-10).

"I am the Lord, unrivaled, I form the light and create the dark...who can argue with the person who fashioned it...? Does the clay say to its fashioner, 'What are you making?'; does the thing he shaped say, 'You have no skill'? Thus says the Lord, the Holy One who fashions Israel: Is it for you to question me about my children or dictate to me what my hands should do? I it was who made the earth, and created man who is on it. I it was who spread out the heavens with my hands and now give orders to their whole array. I it was who roused him to victory, I levelled the way for him. He will rebuild my city, will bring my exiles back without ransom or indemnity, so says the Lord God Almighty." (Is.45:1-13).

"Thus says God: The peasants of Egypt and the traders of Cush and the tall men of Seba, will submit to you and be yours; they will follow you in chains. They will bow down before you, they will pray to you: 'With you alone is God, and he has no rival; there is no other god'. Truly, God is hidden with you, the God of Israel, the saviour. Those who opposed you will be disgraced and humiliated; the makers of idols will go away confounded. Israel will be saved by the Lord, saved everlastingly. You will never be disgraced or humiliated forever and ever." (Is.45:14-17).

"Who foretold this and revealed it in the past? Am I not the Lord? There is no other god besides me, a God of integrity and a saviour; there is none apart from me. Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God unrivalled. 'By my own self I swear it; what comes from my mouth is truth, a word irrevocable: before me every knee shall bend, by me every tongue shall swear, saying, "From the Lord alone come victory and strength". To him shall come, ashamed, all who raged against him. Victorious and glorious through the Lord shall be all the descendants of Israel." (Is.21-25).

"But you, (Bethlehem) Ephrathah, the least of the clans of Judah, out of you will be born for me the one who is to rule over Israel; his origin goes back to the distant past, to the days of old." (Micah 5:1-2).

"The Lord is therefore going to abandon them till the time when she who is to give birth gives birth. Then the remnant of his brothers will come back to the sons of Israel. He will stand and feed his flock with the power of the Lord, with the majesty of the name of his God." (Micah 5:2-4)

"They will live secure, for from then on he will extend his power to the ends of the land. He himself will be peace." (Micah 5:4).

"The Lord is king! Let earth rejoice, the many isles be glad! Cloud and darkness surround him, Righteousness and Justice support his throne. A fire precedes him as he goes, devouring all enemies around him; his lightning lights up the world, earth obeeerves and quakaes." (Ps.97:1-4)

"The mountains melt like wax at the coming of the Master of the world; the heavens proclaim his righteousness, all nations see his glory." (Ps.97:5-6).

"More people hate me than I have hairs on my head, more people are groundlessly hostile than I have hair to show. (They ask me to give back what I never took.)...They gave me poison to eat instead, when I was thirsty they gave me vinegar to drink. (Ps.69:4-21).

"This God of ours is a God who saves; to the Lord God belong the ways of escape from death..." (Ps.68:20).

"Listen to me, Jacob, Israel whom I have called: I am the first, I am the last. My hand laid the foundations of earth and my right hand spread out the heavens. I summon them and they all come forward together. Assemble, all of you, and listen; which of them has foretold this? 'My beloved will perform my pleasure with Babylon and the offspring of the Chaldaeans.' I, yes I myself, have spoken and summoned him, brought him and prospered his plans. Come near and listen to this: from the beginning I have never spoken to you obscurely, and all the time these things have been happening, I have been present. p; And now the Lord God, with his spirit, sends me. Thus says The Lord, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I, the Lord your God, teach you what is good for you, I lead you in the way that you must go. If only you had been alert to my commandments, your happiness would have been like a river, your integrity like the waves of the sea...Never would your name have been cut off or blotted out before me." (Is.48:12-19).

"It is not enough for you to be my servant, to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back the survivors of Israel; I will make you the light of the nations so that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth." (Is.49:6).

"For I am God, not man: I am the Holy One in your midst and have no wish to destroy..." (Hosea 11:9).

"I tell you most solemnly, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees the Father doing: and whatever the Father does the Son does too. For the Father loves the Son and shows him even greater things than these, works that will astonish you. Thus, as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so the Son gives life to anyone he chooses; for the Father judges no one; he has entrusted all judgement to the Son, so that all may honor the Son as they honor the Father. Whoever refuses honor to the Son refuses honor to the Father who sent him. I tell you most solemnly, whoever listens to my words, and believes in the one who sent me, has eternal life; without being brought to judgment he has passed from death to life. I tell you most solemnly, the hour will come p; in fact it is here already p; when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and all who hear it will live. for the Father, who is the source of life, has made the Son the source of life; and, because he is the Son of Man, has appointed him supreme judge. Do not be surprised at this, for the hour is coming when the dead will leave their graves at the sound of his voice: Those who did good will rise again to life; and those who did evil, to condemnation." (John 5:19-29).

"With his power he calmed the Sea, with his wisdom struck Rahab down. His breath made the heavens luminous, his hand transfixed the Fleeing Serpent." (Job. 26:12-13)

"You alone bear the name Yahweh Most High over the whole world " (Ps.83:18).

"Your sons will all be taught by Yahweh." (Is. 54:13).

"Whether you turn to the right or the left, your ears will hear these words behind you, 'This is the way, follow it'." (Is.30:21).

"Yahweh bares his holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God." (Is. 52:10).

"Thrones were set in place and one of great age took his seat...a court was held and the books were opened. I gazed into the visions of the night, and I saw, coming on the clouds of heaven, one like a son of man. He came to the one of great age and was led into his presence. On him was conferred sovereignty, glory and kingship, and men of all peoples...became his servants. his sovereignty is an eternal sovereignty which shall never pass away, nor will his empire ever be destroyed..." (Dan.7:9-14).

"Those who are granted sovereignty are the saints of the Most High, and the kingdom will be theirs forever, forever and ever. (Dan.7;18).

"And sovereignty and kingship, and the splendors of all the kingdoms under heaven will be given to the people of the saints of the Most High, His sovereignty is an eternal sovereignty and every empire will serve and obey him." (Dan.7:27).

"Jesus came up and spoke to them. He said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, make disciples of all the nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And know that I am with you always; yes to the end of the time." (Matt. 28:18-20).

"The Holy Spirit will glorify me because all he tells you will be taken from what is mine. Everything the Father has is mine: that is why I said: All he tells you will be taken from what is mine." (Jn.16:14-15).

"The man who denies that Jesus is the Christ - he is the liar, he is Antichrist; and he is denying the Father as well as the Son, because no one who has the Father can deny the Son..." (1 John 2:22). "Praise is rightfully yours, God, in Zion. Vows to you must be fulfilled, for you answer prayer. All flesh must come to you with all its sins; though our faults overpower us, you blot them out. Happy the man you choose, whom you invite to live in your courts. Fill us with the good things of your house, of your holy Temple." (Ps.65:1-4).

"Your righteousness repays us with marvels, God our saviour, hope of all the ends of the earth and the distant islands. Your strength holds the mountains up, such is the power that wraps you; you calm the clamor of the ocean, the calmor of its waves. The nations are in uproar, in panic those who live at the ends of the world, as your miracles bring shouts of joy to the portals of morning and evening. You visit the earth and water it, you load it with riches; God's rivers brim with water to provide their grain." (Ps.65:5-9).

"It was neither messenger nor angel but his Presence that saved them. In his love and pity he redeemed them himself, he lifted them up, carried them throughout the days of old." (Is.63:9).

"Oh, that you would tear the heavens open and come down p; at your Presence the mountains would melt...to make known your name to your enemies, and make the nations tremble at your Presence, working unexpected miracles such as no one has ever heard of before. No ear has heard, no eye has seen any god but you act like this for those who trust him." (Is. 64:1-4).

"My servants are to be given a new name. Whoever asks to be blessed on earth will ask to be blessed by the God of truth, and whoever takes oath on earth will take oath by the God of truth, for past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes. For now I create new heavens and a new earth, and the past will not be remembered, and will come no more to men's minds." (Is.65:15-18).

"Thus says Yahweh: With heaven my throne and earth my footstool, what house could you build me, what place could you make for my rest? All of this was made by my hand and all of this is mine p; it is Yahweh who speaks. But my eyes are drawn to the man of humbled and contrite spirit, who trembles at my word." (Is. 66:1-2).

"Truly God is hidden with you, the God of Israel, the saviour. Those who opposed you will be disgraced and humiliated...you will never be disgraced or humiliated forver and ever." (Is.45:15-17).

"The Word was the true light that enlightens all men; and he was coming into the world. He was in the world that had its being through him, and the world did not know him. The Word was made flesh, he lived among us, and we saw his glory, the glory that is his as the only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:9-14).

"And saying this he breathed on them and said: 'Receive the Holy Spirit, For those whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven; for those whose sins you retain, they are retained." (John 20:22-23).

"The word, that is the faith we proclaim, is very near to you, it is on your lips and in your heart. If your lips confess that Jesus is Lord and if you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, then you will be saved. By believing from the heart you are made righteous; by confessing with your lips you are saved. (Rom.10:8-11)

John the Baptist told his followers: "Someone is following me, someone who is more powerful than I am, and I am not fit to kneel down and undo the strap of his sandals. I have baptised you with water, but he will baptise you with the Holy Spirit." (Mark 1:7-8).

"It was at this time that Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptised in the Jordan by John. No sooner had he come up out of the water than he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit, like a dove, descending on him. And a voice came from heaven, 'You are my Son, the Beloved; my favor rests on you'." (Mark 1:9-11).

"Thus says God, 'Let the sage boast no more of his wisdom, nor the valiant of his valor, nor the rich man of his riches! But if anyone wants to boast, let him boast of this: of understanding and knowing me. For I am God, I rule with kindness, justice and integrity on earth; yes, these are what please me." (Jer.9:22-24).

"From Judah will come the cornerstone, from him the tent peg, from him the battle bow, from him every ruler." (Zec 10:4)

"You control the pride of the oceans, when its waves ride high, you calm them..." (Ps.89:9).

"The Lord, forever faithful, gives justice to those denied it, gives food to the hungry, gives liberty to prisoners. The Lord restores sight to the blind, the Lord straightens the bent, the Lord protects the stranger; he keeps the orphan and widow." (Ps.146:6-9)

"No, this is the covenant I will make with the House of Israel when those days arrive: Deep within them I will plant my Law, writing it on their hearts. Then I will be their God and they shall be my people. There will be no further need for neighbor to try to teach neighbor, or for brother to say to brother, 'Learn to know God!" No, they will all know me, the least no less than the greatest since I will forgive their iniquity and never call their sin to mind." (Jer.31:33-34).

"Thus says Israel's king and his redeemer, the Lord God Almighty: I am the first and the last; there is no other God besides me. Who is like me? let him stand up and speak, let him show himself and argue it out before me. Who from the very beginning foretold the future? Let them tell us what is yet to come. Have no fear, do not be afraid: have I not told you and revealed it long ago? You are my witnesses, is there any other God besides me? There is no Rock; I know of none." (Is.44:6-8).

"To him shall come ashamed, all who raged against him." (Is.45:24).

"I saw a figure like a son of man, dressed in a long robe tied at the waist with a golden girdle. His head and his hair were as white as white wool or as snow, his eyes like a buring flame, his feet like burnished bronze when it has been refined in a furnace, and his voice like the sound of the ocean. In his right hand he was holding seven stars, out of his mouth came a sharp sword, double-edged, and his face was like the sun shining with all its force. When I saw him, I fell in a dead faint at his feet, but he touched me with his right hand and said, 'Do not be afraid; it is I, the First and the Last; I am the Living One. I was dead and now I am to live forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and of the underworld." (Rev.1:13-18).

FATHER AND SON

"He will invoke me, 'My father, my God and rock of my safety', and I shall make him my first-born, the Most High for kings on earth. I will keep my love for him always, my covenant with him shall stand, I have founded his dynasty to last forever, his throne to be as lasting as the heavens." (Ps. 89:26-29).

"Thus, as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so the Son gives life to anyone he chooses; for the Father judges no one; he has entrusted all judgement to the Son, so that all may honor the Son as they honor the Father." (Jn.5:22-23).

"Whoever refuses to honor Jesus refuses to honor God." (Jn.5:23).

"All that the Father gives to me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I shall not turn him away...Yes, it is my Father's will that whoever sees the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and that I shall raise him up on the last day." (Jn.6:37-40).

"But there are some of you who do not believe. This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father allows him." (Jn. 6:64-65).

"Now, Father, it is time for you to glorify me with that glory I had with you before the world ever came into being." (Jn.17:5).

"He will invoke me, "My father, my God and rock of my safety", and I shall make him my first-born, the Most High for kings on earth." (Ps.89:27).

"I tell you most solemnly, it was not Moses who gave you bread from heaven, it is my Father who gives you the bread from heaven, the true bread; for the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the desert and they are dead; but this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that a man may eat it and not die. I am the living bread which has come down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever." (John 6:32-51).

"Jesus then went into the Temple and drove out all those who were selling and buying there; he upset the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those who were selling pigeons. 'According to scripture' he said 'my house will be called a house of prayer; but you are turning it into a robbers' den'." (Mt.21:12-13).

"He who comes from above is above all others; he who is born of the earth is earthly himself and speaks in an earthly way. He who comes from heaven bears witness to the things he has seen and heard, even if his testimony is not accepted; though all who do accept his testimony are attesting the truthfulness of God, since he whom God has sent speaks God's own words: God gives him the Spirit without reserve. The Father loves the Son and has entrusted everything to him. Anyone who believes in the Son has eternal life, but anyone who refuses to believe in the Son will never see life; the anger of God stays on him." (John 3:31-36).

"No one has gone up to heaven except the one who came down from heaven, the Son of Man who is in heaven; and the Son of Man must be lifted up in the same way that Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him. Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost but may have eternal life. For God sent his Son into the world not to condemn the world, but so that through him the world might be saved. No one who believes in him will be condeemned; but whoever refuses to believe is condemned already, because he has refused to believe in the name of God's only Son. On these grounds is the sentence pronounced: that though the light has come into the world men have shown they prefer darkness to the light because their deeds are evil. And indeed, everybody who does wrong hates the light and avoids it, for fear his actions should be exposed; but the man who lives by the truth comes out into the light, so that it may be plainly seen that what he does is done in God." (John 3:13-21).

"I rescue all who cling to me, I protect all who know my name." (Ps.91:14).

CHRIST AS DAVID, THE ANOINTED KING OF ISRAEL

The word 'God' is a title. It is not a name. It means King -- King of all creation. God conferred that title on Jesus, allowing Him to share it with the Father, i.e., "The Lord said to my Lord...".

"I gazed into the visions of the night, And I saw, coming on the clouds of heaven, one like a son of man. He came to the one of great age and was led into his presence. On him was conferred sovereignty, glory and kingship, and men of all peoples, nations and languages became his servants. His sovereignty is an eternal sovereignty which shall never pass away, nor will his empire ever be destroyed." (Dan.7:13-14).

"This is my king, installed by me on Zion, my holy mountain. Let me proclaim God's decree, he has told me, 'You are my son, today I have become your father." (Ps.2:6-7).

"Mine is not a kingdom of this world; if my kingdom were of this world, my men would have fought to prevent my being surrendered to the Jews. But my kingdom is not of this kind." (Jn.18:36).

"I have made a covenant with my Chosen, I have given my servant David my sworn word: I have founded your dynasty to last forever, I have built you a throne to outlast all time." (Ps.89:3-4).

"...and I shall make him my first-born, the Most High for kings on earth." (Ps.89:27).

"See, the days are comng it is the Lord who speaks when I will raise a virtuous Branch for David, who will reign as true king and be wise, practising honesty and integrity in the land." (Jer.23:5).

"He is the living God, he endures forever, his sovereignty will never be destroyed and his kingship never end. He saves, sets free, and works signs and wonders in the heavens and on earth..." (Dan.6:26-27)

"Then angrily God addresses them, in a rage he strikes them with panic, 'This is my king, installed by me on Zion, my holy mountain'. Let me proclaim God's decree: he has told me, 'You are my son, today I have become your father. Ask and I will give you the nations for your heritagae, the ends of the earth for your domain. Wiith iron sceptre you will break them, shatter them like potter's ware." (Ps.2:5-9).

"God's oracle to you, my Lord, 'Sit at my right hand and I will make your enemies a footstool for you'. Royal dignity was yours from the day you were born, on the holy mountains, royal from the womb, from the dawn of your earliest days. God has sworn an oath which he never will retract, 'You are a priest of the order of Melchizadek, and forever. The Lord is at your right hand." (Ps.110:1-5).

"His king he saves and saves again, displays his love for his anointed, for David and his heirs forever." (Ps.18:50).

"Their prince will be one of their own, their ruler come from their own people. I will let him come freely into my presence and he can come close to me; who else, indeed, would risk his life by coming close to me? it is the Lord who speaks. And you shall be my people and I will be your God." (Jer.30:21-22).

"The Lord has repealed your sentence; he has driven your enemies away. The Lord, the king of Israel, is in your midst; you have no more evil to fear." (Zeph.3:15).

"Sing, rejoice, daughter of Zion; for I am coming to dwell in the middle of you it is the Lord who speaks. Many nations will join the Lord on that day; they will become his people (But he will remain among you, and you will know that the Almighty God has sent me to you.). (Zech.2:10-15).

You deliver me from a people in revolt, you place me at the head of the nations, a people I did not know are now my servants, foreigners come wooing my favor, no sooner do they hear than they obey me." (Ps.18:43-44).

"I place the key of the house of David on his shoulder; should he open, no one shall close, should he close, no one shall open. I drive him like a peg into a firm place; he will become a throne of glory for his father's house.'' (Is.22:22-23)

"God raised this man Jesus to life, and all of us are witnesses to that. Now raised to the heights by God's right hand, he has received from the Father the Holy Spirit, who was promised, and what you see and hear is the outpouring of that Spirit. For David himself never went up to heaven; and yet these words are his: 'The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for you..' For this reason the whole House of Israel can be certain that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ." -Acts 2:29-36

"The Lord, the king of Israel is in your midst." (Zeph. 3:15).

"The Lord, your God is in your midst." (Zeph 3:17)

"His dynasty shall last forever." (Ps.89:36).

"Now I know that Yahweh saves his anointed, and answers him from his holy heaven with mighty victories from his own right hand." (Ps.20:6).

"How beautiful on the mountains, are the feet of one who brings good news, who heralds peace, brings happiness, proclaims salvation, and tells Zion, 'Your God is king!" (Is.52:7-8).

"Rejoice heart and soul, daughter of Zion! Shout with gladness, daughter of Jerusalem! See now, your king comes to you; he is victorious, he is triumphant, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey...He will proclaim peace for the nations. "Brothers, no one can deny that the patriarch David himself is dead and buried: his tomb is still with us. But since he was a prophet, and knew that God had sworn him an oath to make one of his descendants succeed him on the throne, what he foresaw and spoke about was the resurrection of the Christ: he is the one who was not abandoned to Hades, and whose body did not experience corruption. God raised this man Jesus to life, and all of us are witnesses to that. Now raised to the heights by God's right hand, he has received from the Father the Holy Spirit, who was promised, and what you see and hear is the outpouring of that Spirit. For David himself never went up to heaven; and yet these words are his: 'The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for you..' You have let his opponents get the upper hand, and made all his enemies happy, you have snapped his sword on a rock and failed to support him in battle. You have stripped him of his glorious sceptre, and toppled his throne to the ground, you have aged him before his time and covered him in shame." (Psalm 89:38-45).

Keep alive in yourselves what you were taught in the beginning: as long as what you were taught in the beginning is alive in you, you will live in the Son and in the Father; and what is promised to you by his own promise is eternal life" (1 John 2:22-25)

"This is all that I am writing to you about the people who are tryng to lead you astray. But yhou have not lost the anointing that he gave you, and you do not need anyone to teach you; the anointing he gave teaches you everything; you are anointed with truth, not with a lie, and as it has taught you, so you must stay in him. Live in Christ, then, my children, so that if he appears, we may have full confidence, and not turn from him in shame at his coming. For what I have spoken does not come from myself; no, what I was to say, what I had to speak, was commanded by the Father who sent me, and I know that his commands mean eternal life. 'To have seen me is to have seen the Father, so how can you say, "Let us see the Father"? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? In his right hand he was holding seven stars, out of his mouth came a sharp sword, double-edged, and his face was like the sun shining with all its force. When I saw him, I fell in a dead faint at his feet, but he touched me with his right hand and said, 'Do not be afraid; it is I, the First and the Last; I am the Living One. I will bring your offfspring from the east, and gather you from the west. To the north I will say, 'Give them up' and to the south, 'Do not hold them'. "If the Lord does not build the house, in vain the masons toil; if the Lord does not guard the city, in vain the sentries watch. In vain you get up earlier, and put off going to bed, sweating to make a living, since he provides for his beloved as they sleep." (Ps.127:1-2).

"My heart is throbbing! I cannnot keep quiet, for I have heard the trumpet call and the cry of war. Ruin on ruin is the news: the whole land is laid waste, my tents are suddenly destroyed, in one moment all that sheltered me is gone." (Jer.4:19-20).

"Whatever house you go into, let your first words be, 'Peace to this house!' And if a man of peace lives there, your peace will go and rest on him; if not, it will come back to you. " (Luke 10:5-6).

"Pray for peace in Jerusalem, 'Prosperity to your houses! Peace inside your city walls! Prosperity to your palaces! Since all are my brohers and friends, I say 'Peace be with you!' Since Yahweh our God lives here, I pray for your happiness. (Psalm 122:6-9).

"The virtuous and the wicked are under the Lord's scrutiny, and his soul hates anyone who loves brutality." (Ps. 11:6).

"When that day comes I will make a treaty on her behalf with the wild animals...I will break bow, sword and battle in the country, and make her sleep secure." (Hosea 2:18-20).

"A large army will not keep a king safe, nor does the hero escape by his great strength; it is delusion to rely on the horse for safety, for all its powers, it cannot save. But see how the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who rely on his love, to rescue their souls from death and keep them alive in famine." (Ps.33:16-19).

"Pray for peace in Jerusalem, 'Prosperity to your houses! Peace inside your city walls! Prosperity to your palaces!' Since all are my brothers and friends, I say 'Peace be with you!" (Ps.122:6-9).

"I will put Peace in as magistrate, and Integrity as the government. Violence will no longer be heard of in your country, nor devastation and ruin within your frontiers. You will call your walls 'Salvation' and your gates 'Praise'." (Is.60:17-18).

The name Jerusalem combines Jesus and peace. "By interpretation of his name, Melchizadek is, first, 'king of righteousness' and also king of Salem, that is, 'king of peace'; he has no father, mother or ancestry, and his life has no beginning or ending; he is like the Son of God. He remains a priest forever." (Heb. 7:2-3).

"This becomes even more clearly evident when there appears a second Melchizadek, who is a priest, not by virtue of a law about physical descent, but by the power of an indestructible life. For it was about him that the prophecy was made: 'You are a priest of the order of Melchizadek, and forever'." (Heb.7:15-17).

"Wickedness is the bread they eat, and violence the wine they drink." (Prov.4:17). Righteousness the bread we eat and peace the wine.

"I can see how Violence and Discord fill the city; day and night they stalk together along the city walls. Sorrow and Misery live inside, Ruin is an inmate; Tyranny and Treachery are never absent from its central square." (Ps.55:9-11).

"Malice must be banished from your tongue, deceitful conversation from your lips; never yield to evil, practice good, seek peace, pursue it." (Ps.34:13-14)

"...the mountains may depart, and the hills be shaken, but my love for you will never leave you and my covenant of peace with you will never be shaken, says the Lord" (Is. 54:10).

"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth: it is not peace I have come to bring, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. A man's enemies will be those of his own household." (Mt. 10:34-36).

"Wherever you find jealousy and ambition, you find disharmony, and wicked things of every kind being done; whereas the wisdom that comes fown from above is essentially something pure; it also makes for peace, and is kindly and considerate; it is full of compassion and shows itself by doing good; nor is there any trace of partiality or hypocrisy in it. Peacemakers, when they work for peace, sow the seeds which will bear fruit in holiness. Where do these wars and battles between yourselves first start? Isn't it precisely in the desires fighting inide your own selves? You want something and you haven't go it; so you are prepared to kill. You have an ambition that you cannot satisfy; so you fight to get your way by force. Why you don't have what you wnat is because you don't pray for it; when you do pray and don't get it, it is because you have not prayed properly; you have prayed for something to indulge your own desires. (James 3:16-18).

"Lord, rescue me from evil people, defend me from men of violence, from people plotting evil, forever intent on stirring up strife...Lord, guard me from attacks by the wicked, defend me from those who love force...May evil hound the man of violence to death and the slanderer not hold his own on earth. (Ps.140:1-11)

"Why should we fast if you never see it, why do penance if you never notice?" (Is. 58:3). "Is not this the sort of fast that pleases me...to break unjust fetters and undo the throngs of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free...to share your bread with the hungry and shelter the homeless poor, to clothe the man you see to be naked and not turn from your own kin? Then will your light shine like the dawn and your wound be quickly healed over. Your integrity will go before you and the glory of the Lord behind you. Cry, and God will answer; call and he will say, 'I am here'. If you do away with the yoke, the clenched fist, the wicked word, if you give your bread to the hungry, and relief to the oppressed, your light will rise in the darkness, and your shadows become like noon. God will always guide you...." (Is. 58:6-11).

"Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the dark. But anyone who loves his brother is living in the light and need not be afraid of stumbling..." (1 John 2:9-10).

"Listen; the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem; he carried away the king and the princes, and took them to where he lives in Babylon. He took a member of the royal family and made a treaty with him...so that the kingdom would remain modest and without ambition and so maintain his treaty faithfully." (Ez.17:12-14)

"If you are willing to remain peaceably in this country, I will build you and not overthrow you; I will plant you, not tear you up. For I am sorry for the evil that I have done to you. Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon any longer; do not fear him for I am with you to save you and deliver you from his hands. I will take pity on you, and move the king of Babylon to pity you and let you return to your native soil." (Jer.42:1-12).

"Always be wanting peace with all people, and the holiness without which no one can ever see the Lord." (Heb.12:14).

"When he broke the second seal, I heard the second animal shout, 'Come'. And out came another horse, bright red, and its rider was given this duty: to take away peace from the earth and set people killing each other. He was given a huge sword." (Rev. 6:3-4).

"You will march against this country whose inhabitants have been living undisturbed, remote from all other peoples, since they escaped the sword and were gathered in from various nations..." (Ez.38:8).

"The devastators have arrived on all the bare heights of the desert (for God wields a sword that devours): from end to end of the land there is no peace for any living thing. Wheat they have sown, thorns they reap: they have worn themselves out, to no profit." (Jer.12:12).

"Look, Jerusalem is lamenting in the streets, the ambassadors of peace weep bitterly. The highways are deserted, no travellers use the roads. Treaties are broken, witnesses despised. There is respect for no one. The land mourns, it pines away...'Now I stand up,' says God 'now I rise to my full height. You have conceived chaff, you will give birth to straw, my breath shall devour you like fire. The peoples will be reduced to lime, like cut thorns they will be burnt in the fire." (Is.33:7-13).

THE CHRIST MUST SUFFER AND RISE AGAIN ON THE THIRD DAY

"It was the stone rejected by the builders that proved to be the keystone; this is the Lord's doing and it is wonderful to see. This is the day made memorable by the Lord, what immense joy for us!" (Ps.118:22-24).

"My God, my God, why have your deserted me? How far from saving me, the words I groan! I call all day, my God, but you never answer, all night long I call and cannot rest. Yet, Holy One, you who make your home in the praises of Israel, in you our fathers put their trust...Yet here am I, now more worm than man, scorn of mankind, jest of the people, all who see me jeer at me, they toss their heads and sneer, 'He relied on God, let God save him! If God is his friend, let Him rescue him!" (Ps.22:1-8).

"A herd of bulls surrounds me, strong bulls of Bashan close in on me; their jaws are agape for me, like lions tearing and roaring. I am like water draining away, my bones are all disjointed, my heart is like wax, melting inside me; my palate is drier than a postsherd and my tongue is stuck to my jaw." (Ps.22:12-15).

"A pack of dogs surrounds me, a gang of villians closes me in; they tie me hand and foot and leave me lying in the dust of death. I can count every one of my bones, and there they glare at me, gloating; they divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothes." (Ps.22:16-18).

"Nearly breaking my bones my oppressors insult me, as all day long they ask me, 'Where is your God?" (Ps.42:10).

"Hardships in plenty beset the virtuous man, but the God rescues him from them all; taking care of every bone, the Lord will not let one be broken." (Ps.34:19-20).

"More people hate me than I have hairs on my head, more people are groundlessly hostile than I have hair to show. (They ask me to give back what I never took.)...They gave me poison to eat instead, when I was thirsty they gave me vinegar to drink. (Ps.69:4-21).

"...So will the crowds be astonished at him, and kings stand speechless before him; for they shall see something never told and witness something never heard before: 'Who could believe what we have heard, and to whom has the power of God been revealed?' "Like a sapling he grew up in front of us, like a root in arid ground. Without beauty, without majesty (we saw him), no looks to attract our eyes...he was despised and we took no account of him. And yet ours were the sufferings he bore, ours the sorrows he carried. But we, we thought of him as someone punished, struck by God, and brought low. Yet he was pierced through for our faults, crushed for our sins. On him lies a punishment that brings us peace, and through his wounds we are healed." (Is.53:1-5).

"We had all gone astray like sheep, each taking his own way, and God burdoned him with the sins of all of us. Harsly dealt with, he bore it humbly, he never opened his mouth, like a lamb that is led to the slaughter-house, like a sheep that is dumb before its shearers never opening its mouth" (Is.53:6-7)

"By force and by law he was taken, would anyone plead his cause? Yes, he was torn away from the land of the living; for our faults struck down in death. They gave him a grave with the wicked, a tomb with the rich, though he had done no wrong and there had been no perjury in his mouth." (Is.53:8-9)

"God has been pleased to crush him with suffering. If he offers his life in atonement, he shall see his heirs, he shall have a long life and through him what God wishes will be done.. His soul's anguish over he shall see the light and be content. By his sufferings shall my servant justify many, taking their faults on himself." (Is.53:10-11)

"Hence, I will grant whole hordes for his tribute, he shall divide the spoil with the mighty, for surrendering himself to death and letting himself be takne for a sinner, while he was bearing the faults of many and praying all the time for sinners." (Is.53:12)

"For my part, I made no resistance, neither did I turn away. I offered my back to those who struck me, my cheeks to those who tore at my beard; I did not cover my face against insult and spittle." (Is. 5-6).

"All who hate me whisper to each other about me, reckoning I deserve the misery I suffer, 'This sickness is fatal that has overtaken him, he is down at last, he will never get up again'. Even my closest and most trusted friend, who shared my table, rebels against me." (Ps.41:7-9).

"Now I have fallen, they crowd round delighted, flocking to jeer at me; strangers I never even knew with loud cries tear me to pieces, riddling me with gibe after gibe, grinding their teeth at me. How much longer, Lord, will you look on? Rescue my soul from their onslaughts, my dear life from these lions." (Ps.35:15-17).

"There are more and more to hurt me for no reason. There are more to hate me unprovoked, repaying my kindness with evil, arraigning me for trying to do right." (Ps.38:19-20).

"Jesus said to them, 'You will all lose faith in me this night, for the scripture says: 'I shall strike the shepherd and the sheep of the flock will be scattered', but after my resurrection I shall go before you to Galilee." (Mt.26:30-32).

"Awake, sword, against my shepherd and against the man who is my companion it is God Almighty who speaks. I am going to strike the shepherd so that the sheep may be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the weak." (Zech.13"7).

"When that day comes, I shall set myself to destroy all the nations who advance against Jerusalem. But over the House of David and the citizens of Jerusalem I will pour out a spirit of kindness and prayer. They will look on the one whom they have pierced; they will mourn for him as for an only son, and weep for him as people weep for a first-born child." (Zech.12:9-10).

"Come, let us return to the Lord. he has torn us to pieces, but he will heal us; he has struck us down, but he will bandage our wounds; in two days he will bring us back to life; on the third day he will raise us and we shall live in his presence." (Hosea 6:1-2)

JESUS AS GOD'S RIGHT HAND

"God, your praise, like your name, reaches to the ends of the world. Your right hand holds the victory; Mount Zion rejoices, the daughters of Judah exult to have your rulings." (Ps.48:10-11)

"The Lord is my strength and my song, he has been my saviour. Shouts of joy and safety in the tents of the virtuous: the Lord's right hand is wreaking havoc, the Lord's right hand is winning, the Lord's right hand is wreaking havoc." (Ps.118:14-15).

"In his right hand he was holding seven stars, out of his mouth came a sharp sword, double-edged, and his face was like the sun shining with all its force. When I saw him, I fell in a dead faint at his feet, but he touched me with his right hand and said, 'Do not be afraid; it is I, the First and the Last; I am the Living One. I was dead and now I am to live forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and of the underworld." (Rev.1:15-18).

Yours was the arm, and yours the prowess, mighty and exalted your right hand; Righteousness and Justice support your throne, Love and Faithfulness are your attendants." (Ps. 89:11-14)

"...it was not by their swords they won the land, it was not by their arms they gained the victory: it was your right hand, your arm and the light of your face because you loved them. You it was, my King, my God, who won those victories for Jacob; through you we trampled down or enemies, through your name we subdued our aggressors." (Ps.44:3-5),

"Once you spoke in vision and said to your friends, 'I have conferred the crown on a hero, and promoted one chosen from my people, I have selected my servant David and anointed him with my holy oil; my hand will be constantly with him, he will be able to rely on my arm. No enemy will be able to outwit him, no wicked man to worst him, I myself will crush his opponents, I will strike dead all who hate him." Ps.89:19-23)

"Your hand will unmask all your enemies, your right hand all who hate you. You will make them like a blazing furnace the day that you appear. "When I saw him, I fell in a dead faint at his feet, but he touched me with his right hand and said, 'Do not be afraid; it is I, the First and the Last; I am the Living One, I was dead and now I am to live for ever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and of the underworld." (Rev.1:17-18).

Therefore I will turn my hand against you, I will smelt away your dross in the furnace, I will remove all your base metal from you. I will restore your judges as of old...then you will be callled City of Integrity, Faithful City." (Is.1:21-26)

The Lord God says this: Listen; I am about to kindle a fire in you that will burn up every green tree as well as every dry one; it will be an unquenchable blaze and every face will be scorched by it from the Negeb to the North. All mankind will see that it was I, the Lord, who kindled it, and it will not be put out." (Ez.21:1-5).

"Now I will make my words a fire in your mouth, and make this people wood, for the fire to devour." (Jer.5:14)

Who will be able to resist the day of his coming? Who will remain standing when he appears? For his is like the refiner's fire and the fullers' alkali. He will take his seat as refiner and purifier; he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and then they will make the offering to Yahweh as it should be made. the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will then be welcomed by Yahweh as in former days, as in the years of old. I mean to visit you for the judgment and I am going to be a ready witness against sorcerer, adulterer and perjurer, against those who oppress the wage-earner, the widow and the orphan, and who rob the settler of his rights no need for you to be afraid of me, says Yahweh Sabaoth." (Malachi 3:1-5).

"Assyria will fall by a sword that is not man's, will be devoured by a sword that is more than human, he will flee before the sword and his young warriors will be enslaved. "Son of man, the House of Israel, as I see it, is base metal; they are all copper, tin, iron, lead, in the melting -pot; they are base metal. And so, the Lord God says this: Since you are all base maetal, I will collect you inside Jerusalem. As silver, copper, iron, lead and tim are thrown into the melting-pot together and the fire is stoked underneath to melt it all down, so I will collect you in my furious anger and melt you down; I will collect you and stoke the fire of my fury for you, and melt you down inside the city. His armies will be as many as the sands of the sea; ·they will come swarming over the entire country and besiege the camp of the saints, which is the city that God loves. But fire will come down on them from heaven and consume them. ·Then the devil, who misled them, will be thrown into the lake of fire and sulphur, where the beast and the false prophet are, and their torture will not stop, day or night, for ever and ever." (Rev.20:7-10)

JESUS AS BRIDEGROOM

In the Book of Esther, the Holy Spirit has defined these two covenants as wives of the King. This designation allows the two Jerusalem's (physical Jerusalem and spiritual Jerusalem) and their respective covenants to fall into the Law's directives concerning nuptial vows (Num.30).

"Thus says the Lord: Where is your mother's writ of divorce by which I dismissed her? Or to which of my creditors have I sold you? You were sold for your own crimes, for your own faults your mother was dismissed." (Is. 50:1)"

Do not be afraid, you will not be put to shame, do not be dismayed, you will not be disgraced; for you will forget the shame of your youth and no longer remember the curse of your widowhood. For now your creator will be your husband, his name, Yahweh Sabaoth; your redeemer will be the Holy One of Israel, he is called the God of the whole earth.." (Is.54:4-5).

"Every vow or oath that is binding on the wife may be endorsed or annulled by the husband...but if he annuls them longer than a day after he learnt of them, then he must bear the burden of the wife's fault." (Num.30:14-16).

This decree in the Law allowed Jesus, the bridegroom of the new Jerusalem, to annul the first covenant and its penalty -- but to do so, he had to bear the burden of the penalty which sin had bound on the first wife. He could do this because the Law allowed Him to stand in his Father's place:

"The rite of atonement must be performed by the priest who has been anointed and installed to officiate in place of his father." (Lv.16:32).

The Father of Jesus is God. Anointed by the Father, Jesus was installed by Him into a priesthood of divinity which the Old Testament calls 'Melchizedek' (Ps.110:4). It is a priesthood of Father and One Son exclusively. It outranked the highest Hebrew priesthood of Aaron, giving Jesus full authority over the Rite of Atonement and everything that followed. Standing in for His Father, in obedience to the Law, Jesus bore the sinful 'wife's fault' in his own body. He wiped out that sin on the cross. In this way the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary fulfilled the directives of Mosaic Law, allowing God to rescue who accepts Him out of its penalty of death.

"Set up signposts, raise landmarks; mark the road well, the way by which you went. Come home, virgin of Israel, come home to these towns of yours. How long will you hesitate, disloyal daughter? For the Lord is creating something new on earth: the Woman sets out to find her Husband again. (Jer.31:21-22).

"When that day comes it is the Lord who speaks she will call me, 'My husband', no longer will she call me, 'My Baal'. I will take the names of the Baals off her lips, their names shall never be uttered again." (Hosea 2:18-19).

"I will betroth you to myself forever, betroth you with integrity and justice, with tenderness and love; I will betroth you to myself with faithfulness, and you will come to know the Lord." (Hosea 2:21-22).

"The nations then will see your integrity, all the kings your glory, and you will be called by a new name, one which the mouth of the Lord will confer. You are to be a crown of splendor in the hand of the Lord, a princely diadem in the hand of your God; no longer are you to be named 'Forsaken' nor your land 'Abandoned', but you shall be called 'My Delight' and your land 'The Wedded', for the Lord takes delight in you and your land will have its wedding." (Is. 62:2-4).

"Like a young man marrying a virgin, so will the one who built you wed you, and as the bridegroom rejoices in his bride, so will your God rejoice in you." (Is. 62:5).

"...the sons of the forsaken one are more in number than the sons of the wedded wife, says the Lord." (Is. 54:1).

"High above, he pitched a tent for the sun, who comes out of his pavillion like a bridegroom exulting like a hero to run his race. He has his rising on the edge of heaven, the end of his course is its furthest edge, and nothing can escape his heat." (Ps.19:4-6).

"I exult for joy in the Lord, my soul rejoices in my God, for he has clothed me in the garments of salvation, he has wrapped me in the cloak of integrity, like a bridegroom wearing his wreath, like a bride adorned in her jewels." (Is.61:10).

THE HOLY SPIRIT

"I myself will send an angel before you to guard you as you go and to bring you to the place that I have prepared. Give him reverence and listen to all that he says. Offer him no resistance; he would not pardon such a fault, for my name is in him. If you listen carefully to his voice and do all that I say, I shall be enemy to your enemies, foe to your foes. My angel will go before you and lead you..." (Ex.23:20)

"Look, I am going to send my messenger to prepare a way before me. And the Lord you are seeking will suddenly enter his Temple; and the angel of the covenant whom you are longing for, yes, he is coming says Almighty God. Who will be able to resist the the day of his coming? Who will remain standing when he appears? For he is like the refiner's fire and the fuller's alkali. He will take his seat as refiner and purifier; he will pruify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and then they will make the offering to the Lord as it should be made." (Malachi 3:1-3).

WE KNOW GOD ONLY BY VOICE:

"The Word was the true light that enlightens all men; and he was coming into the world. He was in the world that had its being through him, and the world did not know him. The Word was made flesh, he lived among us, and we saw his glory, the glory that is his as the only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:9-14).

"...you heard the sound of words but saw no shape." (Dt.4:12).
"There was only a voice." (Dt.4:13).

"He let you hear his voice out of heaven for your instruction" (Dt.4:36)

"He gave us the bread of heaven." (Ps.105:40).

"He gave them the wheat of heaven to eat." (Ps.78:24). That is the Word that created the heavens and the earth.

"Your new birth was not from any mortal seed, but from the everlasting word of the living and eternal God. What is this word? it is the Good News that has been brought to you." (1 Peter 1:23)

"By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their whole array by the breath of his mouth...he spoke, and it was created; he commanded, and there it stood" (Ps.33:6-9). "God will make his majestic voice be heard." (Is. 30:30).

"Jesus spoke God's own words" (John 3:34).

"He gave them the wheat of heaven to eat." (Ps.78:24).

"By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their whole array by the breath of his mouth...he spoke, and it was created; he commanded, and there it stood" (Ps.33:6-9).

"God will make his majestic voice be heard." (Is. 30:30).

"Let these words of mine remain in your heart and in your soul; fasten them on your hand as a sign and on your forehead as a circlet. Teach them to your children and say them over to them, whether at rest in your house or walking abroad, at your lying down or at your rising. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, so that you and your children may live long in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers he would give them for as long as there is a sky above the earth." (Dt.11:18-21).

"You have come to God himself, the supreme Judge...Make sure that you never refuse to listen when he speaks. The people who refused to listen to the warning from a voice on earth could not escape their punishement, and how shall we escape if we turn away from a voice that warns us from heaven?" (Heb.12:23-25)."To have seen me is to have seen the Father, so how can you say, "Let us see the Father"? (John 14:9).

"I bind up this testimony, I seal this revelation in the heart of my disciples." (Is.8:6).

"In the beginning was the Word: the Word was with God and the Word waas God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things came to be, not one thing had its being but through him. All that came to be had life in him and that life was the light of men, a light that shines in the dark, a light that darkness could not overpower." (John1:1-5)

"The Word was the true light that enlightens all men; and he was coming into the world. He was in the world that had its being through him, and the world did not know him. He came to his own domain and his own people did not accept him. But to all who did accept him he gave power to become children of God..." (John 1:9-12).

"The Word was made flesh, he lived among us, and we saw his glory, the glory that is his as the only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:14).

"By the word of God the heavens were made, their whole array by the breath of his mouth; he collects the ocean waters as though in a wineskin, he stores the deeps in cellars. Let the whole world fear the Lord, let all who live on earth revere him! He spoke, and it was created; he commanded, and there it stood." (Ps.33:6-9).

"I tell you most solemnly, before Abraham ever was, I Am". (John 8:58).

A GOSPEL TO BE LISTENED TO

"I have appointed you as assayer of my people, to learn and to assay how they behave." (Jer.6:27).

"Listen to this Law, my people, pay attention to what I say; I am going to speak to you in parable and expound the mysteries of our past." (Ps.78:1-2).

"Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord' and not do what I say?" (Luke 6:46).

"I, the Lord, search to the heart, I probe the loins, to give each man what his conduct and his actions deserve." (Jer.17:10).

"You yourself have made your precepts known, to be faithfully kept." (Ps.119:4).
"If I concentrate on your every commandment, I can never be put to shame." (Ps.119:6).
"With my lips I have repeated them, all these rulings from your own mouth." (Ps.119:13).

"I have sought you with all my heart, please do not let me stray from your commandments." (Ps.119:10).

"Exile though I am on earth, do not hide your commandments from me." (Ps.119:19).

"I admitted my behavior, you answered me, now teach me your statutes." (Ps.119:26).

"...raise me as your word has guaranteed." (Ps.119:28).

"Turn my heart to your decrees and away from getting money." (Ps.119:36).

"After reflecting on my behavior, I turn my feet to your decrees. Wasting no time, I hurry to observe your commandments." (Ps.119:59-60).

"The Lord's words are sweeter than honey, even than honey that drips from the comb. Thus your servant is formed by them, observance brings great reward." (Ps.19:10-11)

"It is not those who say to me, 'Lord, Lord', who will enter the kingdoom of heaven, but the person who does the will of my Father in heaven. When the day comes many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophecy in your name, cast out demons in yhour namae, work many miracles in your name?' Then I shall tell them to their faces: I have never known you; away from me, you evil men!" (Mat. 7:21-23).

"Therefore, everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on a rock. But everyone who listens...but does not act on them will be like a stupid man who built his house on sand." (Mat. 7:24-27).

"I am a friend to all who fear you and observe your precepts." ( (Ps.119:63).

"Creation is maintained by your rulings, since all things are your servants. (Ps.119:91)

"The harvest is a harvest of good deeds." (2 Cor.9:11).

"I, the Lord, your God teach you what is good for you, I lead you in the way that you must go. If only you had been alert to my commandments..." (Is.48:17).

"I shall never forget your precepts; by these you have kept me alive." (Ps.119:93).

"I do not turn aside from your rulings, since you yourself teach me these." (Ps.119:102).

"By your comandment, ever mine, how much wiser you have made me than my enemies! How much subtler than my teachers, through my meditating on your decrees! How much more perceptive than the elders, as a result of my respecting your precepts!" (Ps.119:97-100).

"Now your word is a lamp to my feet, a light on my path." (Ps.119:105).

"As your word unfolds, it gives light, and the simple understand." (Ps.119:130) see also Lk.10:21 & Pr.9:4.

"I rejoice in your promise, like someone on finding a vast treasure." (Ps.119:162).

"Universal peace for those who love your Law, no stumbling blocks for them." (Ps.119:165).

"Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten by God, and everyone who loves the Father also loves the one who is begotten by him. For the love of God is this, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome, for whoever is begotten by God conquers the world." (1 John 5:1+)

"Long have I known that your decrees were founded to last forever." (Ps.119:152).

"Lord, may my cry approach your presence; let your word endow me with perception! May my entreaty reach your presence; rescue me as you have promised. May my lips proclaim your praise, since you teach me your statutes. May my tongue recite your promise, since all your commandments are righteous. May your hand be there to help me, since I have chosen your precepts. I long for you, Lord, my savior, your Law is my delight. Long may my soul live to praise you, long be your rulings my help!" (Ps.119:169-175).

THE INTERMEDIARY - (Exodus 19:9 - 20:21)

When they gathered in the Sinai after leaving Egypt, the people were supposed to meet God face to face. As God drew near, however, thunderous events occured in nature that terrified the Israelites. They begged Moses to have God stop His approach and send them an 'intermediary' instead. Going to the top of the mountain in Sinai, Moses asked God about this and God agreed. That agreement is what structured the concept of a 'Messiah' into Hebrew law. At first the Israelites thought that the intermediary would be Moses, but he told them it was to be someone else.

After that, the expectation of his coming persisted throughout Hebrew history and it became particularly fervent in the centuries that surrounded the time of Christ. Yet when He arrived, He did not come as an intermediary. He came as God Himself, in Person on earth. That is why today we have no need of an intermediary. When we go to Jesus, we automatically go to God. When we pray to Jesus, we automatically pray to God.

"The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like myself, from among yourselves, from your own brothers; To him you must listen. This is what you yourselves asked of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the Assembly. 'Do not let me hear again' you said, 'the voice of the Lord my God, nor look any longer on this great fire, or I shall die'; and God said to me, 'All they have spoken is well said. I will raise up a prophet like yourself for them from their own brothers; I will put my words into his mouth and he shall tell them all I command him to say." (Dt.18:15-19).

"This is my king, installed by me on Zion, my holy mountain. Let me proclaim God's decree, he has told me, 'You are my son, today I have become your father." (Ps.2:6-7).

He let you hear his voice out of heaven for your instruction..." (Dt.4"36).

"Truly God is hidden with you, the God of Israel, the Saviour. Those who opposed you will be disgraced and humiliated...you will never be disgraced or humiliated forver and ever." (Is.45:15-17).

"God himself is our teacher" (Ps.32:8).

"I rescue all who cling to me, I protect all who know my name." (Ps.91:14)..

"It was neither messenger nor angel but his presence that saved them." (Is.63:9).

"For I am God, not man: I am the Holy One in your midst and have no wish to destroy." (Hosea 11:9).

"And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you? Only this: to fear the Lord your God, to follow all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your god with all your heart and all your soul, to keep the commandments and laws of the Lord that for your good I lay down for you today." (Dt.10:12-13).
"To the Lord your God belong indeed heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth and all it contains..." (Dt.10:14).

"Circumcise your heart then and be obstinate no longer; for the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, triumphant and terrible, never partial, never to be bribed. It is he who sees justice done for the orphan and the widow, who loves the stranger and gives him food and clothing." (Dt.10:16-18).

"God said to Moses, 'Go to the people and tell them to prepare themselves today and tomorrow. Let them wash their clothing and hold themselves in readiness for the third day, because on the third day God will descend on the mountain of Sinai in the sight of all the people." Ex.19:16.

JESUS BRINGS A NEW COVENANT

"See, the days are coming - it is God who speaks- when I will make a new covenant with the House of Israel (and the House of Judah), but not a covenant like the one I made with their ancestors on the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. They broke that covenant of mine, so I had to show them who was master. "No, this is the covenant I will make with the House of Israel when those days arrive: Deep within them I will plant my Law, writing it on their hearts. Then I will be their God and they shall be my people." (Jer.31:31-33).

"You have come to God himself, the supreme Judge, and been placed with spirits of the saints who have been made perfect; and to Jesus, the mediator who brings a new covenant and a blood for purification which pleads more insistantly than Able's. Make sure that you never refuse to listen when he speaks. The people who refused to listen to the warning from a voice on earth could not escape their punishement, and how shall we escape if we turn away from a voice that warns us from heaven?" (Heb.12:23-25)."To have seen me is to have seen the Father, so how can you say, "Let us see the Father?" (John 14:9).

Jesus bridged the gap between two covenants. He was the supreme high priest who could stand in for God (the Son stands in for the Father) and consumate a single sacrifice on heavenly terms that would end animal sacrifices forever. He gave us a sacrifice that had power to change the covenants; releasing mankind from the temporary covenant of Moses and bringing in its place an eternal covenant that is everlasting. (see Hebrews 7, 8 & 9)

JESUS BRINGS THE FEAST OF HEAVEN

"Here you are to celebrate a feast in my honor." (Ex. 23:14)

"And No one must come before me empty-handed." (Ex.23:15)."The blessing-cup that we bless is a communion with the blood of Christ, and the bread that we break is a communion with the body of Christ. The fact that there is only one loaf means that, though there are many of us, we form a single body because we all have a share in this one loaf." (1 Cor.10:16-17).

"For this is what I received from the Lord, and in turn passed on to you: that on the same night that he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread, and thanked God for it and broke it, and he said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this as a memorial of me'."

"In the same way he took the cup afer supper, and said, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Whenever you drink it, do this as a memorial of me'. Until the Lord comes, therefore, every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are proclaimng his death, and so anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will be behaving unworthily towards the body and blood of the Lord. "

"On this mountain, the Lord God Almighty will prepare for all peoples a banquet of rich food, a banquet of fine wines, of food rich and juicy, of fine strained wines. On this mountain he will remove the veil of mourning covering all peoples, and the shroud enwrapping all nations. He will destroy death forever. (Is.25:6-7).

"The Lord God will wipe away the tears from every cheek; he will take away his people's shame everywhere on earth, for God has said so. That day, it will be said: See this is our God in whom we hoped for salvation; the Lord is the one in whom we rejoice that he has saved us; for the hand of God rests on this mountain." (Is.25:8-10).

"When your judgments appear on earth the inhabitants of the world learn the meaning of integrity." (Is.26:9)

"That day, the Lord will start his threshing from the course of the River to the wadi of Egypt, and you will be gathered one by one, sons of Israel. That day, the great trumpet will be sounded, and those lost in the land of Assyria will come, and those exiled to the land of Egypt, and they will worship the Lord on the holy mountain, in Jerusalem.

JESUS RESCUES THE EXILES & REBUILDS JERUSALEM

"To Babylon you must go and there you will be rescued; there the Lord will ransom you out of the power of your enemies. (Micah 4:10)

"The Lord is therefore going to abandon them till the time when she who is to give birth gives birth. Then the remnant of his brothers will come back to the sons of Israel. He will stand and feed his flock with the power of the Lord, with the majesty of the name of his God." (Micah 5:2-4)

"See, the days are coming it is the Lord who speaks when the city of the Lord will be rebuilt from the Tower of Hananel to the Gate of the Corner. It shall never again be destroyed, or laid under the ban." (Jer.31:38-40).

"I will restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, and build them again as they were before." (Jer.33:6).

"Jerusalem restored! The city, one united whole! Here the tribes come up, the tribes of the Lord, they come to praise the Lord's name, as he ordered Israel, here where the tribunals of justice are, the royal tribunals of David." (Ps.122:3-5).

"The Lord, Restorer of Jerusalem! He brought back Israel's exiles, healing their broken hearts, and binding up ther wounds. He decides the number of the stars and gives each of them a name; Our Lord is great, all-powerful, of infinite understanding." (Ps.147:2-5).

"You will rebuild the ancient ruins, build up on the old foundations. You will be called 'Breach-mender', Restorer of ruined houses'." (Is.58:12).

"I build you once more; you shall be rebuilt, virgin of Israel." (Jer.31:4).

"The Lord bares his holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God. 'Go away, go away, leave that place, touch nothing unclean. Get out of her, purify yourselves, you who carry the vessels of the Lord. But you are not to hurry away, you are not to leave like fugitives. No, the Lord will go in front of you, and the God of Israel awill be your rearguard." (Is. 52:10-12).

"Go away from Babylon! Flee from the Chaldaeans! Declare this with cries of joy and proclaim it, send it out to the ends of he earth. Say, "The Lord has redeemed his servant Jacob'. Those he led through the deserts never went thirsty; he made water spring for them from the rock, he split the rock and water flowed. There is no happiness, says the Lord, for the wicked." (Is. 48:20-22).

"It is not enough for you to be my servant, to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back the survivors of Israel; I will make you the light of the nations so that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth." (Is. 49:6).

"Who will bring Israel salvation from Zion? When God brings his people home, what joy for Jacob, what happiness for Israel!" (Ps.53:6).

"Know this, then, and understand: From the time this message went out: 'Return and rebuild Jerusalem' to the coming of an anointed Prince, seven weeks and sixty-two weeks, with squares and ramparts restored and rebuilt, but in a time of trouble." (Dan.9:25).

"The spirit of the Lord God has been given to me, for the Lord has anointed me. He has sent me to bring good news to the poor, to bind up hearts that are broken; to proclaim liberty to captives, freedom to those in prison; to proclaim a year of favor from the Lord, a day of vengeance for our God, to comfort all those who mourn and to give them for ashes a garland...They are to be called 'terebinths of integrity', planted by the Lord to glorify him. They will rebuild the ancient ruins, they will raise what has long lain waste, they will restore the ruined cities, all that has lain waste for ages past." (Is.61:1-4)

"Foreigners will rebuild your walls and their kings will be your servants." (Is.60:10)

"The Lord says this: 'Now I will restore the tents of Jacob, and take pity on his dwellngs: the city shall be rebuilt on its ruins, the citadel restored on its site." (Jer.30:18).

"Proclaim! Praise! Shout: 'The Lord has saved his people, the remnant of Israel!' See, I will bring them back from the land of the North and gather them from the far ends of the earth; all of them: the blind and the lame, women with child, women in labor: a great company returning here." (Jer.31:7-8).

"They had left in tears, I will comfort them as I lead them back; I will guide them to streams of water, by a smooth path where they will not stumble. For I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my first-born son. Listen nations, to the word of the Lord. Tell this to the distant island, 'He who scattered Israel gathers him, he guards him as a shepherd guards his flock'. For the Lord has ransomed Jacob, rescued him from a hand stronger than his own." (Jer.31:9-10)

"For in those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I am going to gather all the nations and take them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat; there I intend to put them on trial..." (Joel 4:1-2)

"When that day comes, I mean to make Jerusalem a stone to be lifted by all the peoples; all who try to lift it will hurt themselves severely. (And all the nations of the earth will mass against her..)" (Zech.12:3).

A NEW JERUSALEM NOT OF THIS EARTH

"In the days to come the mountain of the temple of God shall tower above the mountains and be lifted higher than the hills. All the nations shall stream to it, peoples without number will come to it. They will say, 'Come, let us go to the mountain of God that he may teach us his ways so that we may walk in his paths since from Zion the Law will go out, and the oracle of the Lord from Jerusalem." (Is.2:2-3; Micah 4:1-2).

He will wield authority over many peoples and arbitrae for mighty nations; they will hammer their swords into ploughshares, their spears into sickles. Nation will not lift sword against nation, there will be no more training for war....the mouth of the Lord God Almighty has spoken it." (Micah 4:3-4)

"There is no eternal city for us in this life, but we look for one in the life to come." (Heb.13:14).

"What you have come to is Mount Zion and the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem where the angels have gathered for the festival with the whole Church, and in which everyone is a 'first-born son' and a citizen of heaven." (Heb.12:22-23).

"A glorious throne, set high from the beginning, such is our Holy Place." (Jer.17:12).

JESUS WAS WITH GOD BEFORE THE WORLD WAS MADE

"Now Father, it is time for you to glorify me with that glory I had with you before there ever was a world. I have made your name known to the men you took from the world to give me. They were yours and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now at last they know that all you have given me comes indeed from you; for I have given them the teaching you gave to me, and they have truly accepted this, that I came from you, and they have believed that it was you who sent me. I pray for them; I am not praying for the world but for those you have given me, because they belong to you: all I have is yours and all you have is mine, and in them I am glorified. I am not in the world any longer, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep those you have given me true to your name, so that they may be one like us." (John 17:5-11).

JESUS IS MASTER OF THE SABBATH

'The Son of Man is master of the sabbath'. (Luke 6:1-5)

"The Son of Man is master of the sabbath" (Lk.6:5)

"The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath; so the Son of Man is master even of the sabbath." (Mk.2:27-28).

"Have you not read in the Law that on the sabbath day the Temple priests break the sabbath without being blamed for it? Now here, I tell you, is something greater than the Temple. And if you had understood the meaning of the words: What I want is mercy, not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the blameless. For the Son of Man is master of the sabbath." (Mt.12:5-8).
